  Upgrading to Cisco IPS 6.0(4)E2
 describes the platform identifiers used in platform-specific names.
Note
The IDS 4235 and IDS 4250 do not use platform-specific image files.

Caution
You must have a valid Cisco Service for IPS Maintenance contract per sensor to receive and use software 
upgrades from Cisco.com.
To upgrade the sensor, follow these steps:
Step 1
Download the signature engine update file (IPS-engine-E2-req-6.0-4.pkg) to an FTP, SCP, HTTP, or 
HTTPS server that is accessible from your sensor.
Caution
You must log in to Cisco.com using an account with cryptographic privileges to download software. The 
first time you download software on Cisco.com, you receive instructions for setting up an account with 
cryptographic privileges. 
Caution
Do not change the filename. You must preserve the original filename for the sensor to accept the update. 
Step 2
Log in to the CLI using an account with administrator privileges.
