The DG8 uses standard 2-conductor 1/4” tip-sleeve unbalanced connectors for back
panel audio connections and a 3-conductor 1/4” tip-ring-sleeve connector for the two
headphone outputs on the front. The diagram below shows what the right kind of
connector looks like when purchasing audio cables and headphones.
Outputs
To connect your DG8 to a sound system in stereo, connect two 2-conductor
unbalanced audio cables from the unit’s
R
 and
L/MONO
 jacks on the back panel
OUTPUTS
section to two inputs on your sound system. If you are connecting the DG8
to a mixer, pan the channels hard left and right to obtain a full stereo image.
To connect your DG8 to a sound system in mono, connect a 2-conductor unbalanced
audio cable from the unit’s
L/MONO
 jack on the back panel
OUTPUTS
 section to an
input on your sound system.
Tip
: If necessary, you can turn the DG8’s internal sound system off. There’s a slide
switch on the back panel adjacent to the stereo outputs that turns the speakers
on or off.
Inputs
The DG8 accommodates audio inputs from such sources as a stereo cassette or audio
CD player. These signals are mixed with the DG8’s internal sound system and output
to the speakers. The DG8’s
VOLUME
slider adjusts the volume level of the composite
mix of the DG8’s internal sounds, external card sounds and signals coming into the
INPUTS
jacks. The level of the cassette or CD player must be set on the cassette or CD
player itself in order to control it separately from the DG8’s internal sounds.
To connect an external audio source in stereo, connect two 2-conductor unbalanced
audio cables from the source to the DG8’s
R
 and
L/MONO
 jacks on the back panel
INPUTS
section. To connect an external audio source in mono, use one 2-conductor
unbalanced cable from the source to the
L/MONO
jack. This will route the mono signal
to both speakers. Plugging the cable into the
R
jack will route the sound to the right
speaker only.
