Hard Disk Replacement Procedure for the Cisco MeetingPlace 8106

How to Replace the Hard Disk
Removing an Old Hard Disk
Warning

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw that secures the hard disk to the chassis. This screw is
located on the front left of the hard disk.

Step 2
Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw in the latching mechanism. The latching mechanism is
located on the front right of the hard disk.

Step 3
Push the red tab inside the latching mechanism in and pull the black handle out. The hard disk pops out
of the connector in the drive bay.

Installing a New Hard Disk
Warning

Step 1
Remove the new hard disk from the antistatic bag.
Step 2
Insert the bottom edges of the hard disk into the rail guides in the drive bay. If you can tilt the hard disk
more than 2 degrees after it is in the drive bay, both edges are not in the rail guides.

Step 3
Slide the hard disk into the drive bay until it stops.
Step 4
Use your thumbs to press the hard disk into place so that the front panel of the hard disk is flush with
the chassis.

Step 5
Secure the hard disk in the drive bay by pushing the black handle in towards the chassis.
Caution
Do not force the handle to close. If the connectors are misaligned, you can bend or break the pins.
