PYROCLUSTER
REFERENCE 17
Intensity
The measurement of intensity for the selected color knot.
Edit Alpha, Display Result
The Edit Alpha and
Display Result options
change the gradient
display accordingly.
A few effects can have transparency added via an alpha channel gradient. To edit
the alpha channel gradient, enable the Edit Alpha option; a grayscale gradient will
replace the current gradient. Where the gradient is white the defined color will be fully
opaque whereas black on the gradient indicates full transparency. To see a preview
of the transparency in the gradient, enable Display Result.
Enable the Edit Alpha option to show and modify the gradient’s corresponding alpha
channel, which determines the transparency over the length of the gradient.
Enabling the Display Result option displays the gradient taking the alpha channel into
account. This gradient is the one that will actually be used in the render.
The context menu for gradients
To open this menu Right-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) the gradient.
Invert Knots
Reverses the gradient.
Double Knots
The amount of knots is doubled.
Reset
The gradient will change to solid white.
Working with gradients
There are so many parameters that interact with one another that the number of
combinations for a PyroCluster effect are nearly endless. Think carefully about the
effect you want to create. Try to break it down into issues of color and time.
Take a flamethrower effect; what does a real one look like? Close to the flamethrower
nozzle the flame is a hot, transparent white and blue, while the further away the
flame is from the nozzle, the darker, redder and more opaque it becomes.
