INFORMATIONEN ON DCF-AUND MULTIBAND-
RADIO SIGNALS
Attempts to receive the DCF signal for daily automatic synchronisation are being
made at 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.  One successful reception per day is suffi cient to keep the
deviation to less then 1 second.
The DCF signal is encoded and transmitted via a DCF transmitter in Mainfl ingen
(near Frankfurt). Its range is up to 1,500 km and, under ideal reception conditions,
even up to 2,000 km. Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise time
(theoretical deviation of 1 second in a million years!) and the date.
This watch can receive four different radio signals: DCF, MSF, WWVB and JJY
(60kHz). By receiving one of these signals the time of day and the date are set
automatically. The time of the day must be set manually within the respective range
of the transmitter. Manually setting of the summer and winter time of course is no
longer necessary.
Reception of the respective radio signal depends on the location and the position,
and on disturbing signals as well that, for example, may originate from computers,
television sets and micro waves. Withing rooms made of steel concrete the radio
signal is alse weakened.
If your watch does not display the correct time after delivery, the DCF receiver has
to be triggered manually. For this observe chapter "Manual setting of the time".

GETTING STARTED

Due to storage and transport the accumulator might be discharged. You can
recognise this if all hands are set to 12 o'clock or if the seconds hand is only
moving every two seconds and skipping one second. In every case, recharge
the accumulator before the watch is started. For this please refer to the chap-
ter "Recharging of the accumulators".

SEARCHING THE RADIO SIGNAL
Hold button 1 for about 3 seconds until the antenna symbol fl ashes in the display.
If possible, place the watch in the vincinity of a windos for a possibly optimal
receptiom. Have the watch either pointing upwards or downwards. Do not tilt the
watch to the side.
During the search the strength of the signal is shown. This helps when searching
for a suitable location for the reception of the radio signal.
The watch now searches for the radio signal. This process can take several min-
utes.
After completion of the radio signal search and after the quick run of the minutes
hand the watch shows the normal time of day again.
In order to check if the radio signal search was successful, now press button 1.
Successful reception:  On the display "OK" is shown besides the antenna symbol.
No reception:
On the display "NO" is shown besides the antenna symbol.
If the watch does not receive an signal place the watch at another location. If neces-
sary, leave the watch lying in the vicinity of a window during the night, since the re-
ception is better by night than by day. If this is not the case the watch is not located
within the range of the radio signal transmitter. If so, set the watch manually. This is
described in the chapter "Manual setting of the time".
SETTING THE DISPLAY LANGUAGE
The days of the week can be shown either German or English. For this purpose,
proceed as follows:
When in normal time mode, keep button 2 impressed for about 3 seconds until a
3-digit city codes appears on the display.
Press button 2 again. On the display the day of the week is fl ashing, e.g. TUE
(=Tuesday).
Press button 1 to change the language.
Press button 2 in order to confi rm the selection. The confi rmation process takes
a few seconds. During that "WAIT" appears on the display.
