Nortel VPN Router Installation — Hardware Options 

The VPN Router 5000 ships with two fan trays installed in the chassis: one tray in 
the front of the chassis and the other in the rear of the chassis 

Location of the Nortel VPN Router 5000 fan trays

If a fan fails, the following indicators report the failure:

•

The front-panel Fail LED lights red.

•

The audible alarm beeps.

•

The event and system logs report the failure.

Caution: Replace a failed fan tray as soon as possible. Overheating can 
damage VPN Router 5000 components.
