Removing a fan tray
Each fan tray has a bundle of cables attached to it. The cables are terminated 
by two three-hole plugs. When you replace a fan tray, you must attach the fan 
plugs to the correct connectors on the system board. (However, either plug can 
go onto either of the connectors.)

After you note the location of the fan plugs, disconnect the plugs for the fan 
tray that you are replacing from the system board.

Remove the cables from the plastic hooks that secure them to the chassis base 
and to the fan tray.

Use a flat-tip screwdriver to unscrew the single captive screw in the center of 
the fan tray (

Insert two fingers into the holes on top of the fan tray, and pull the fan tray 
straight up, out of the fan tray enclosure.
Caution: Do not remove the fan tray cables from the system board until 
you are certain that you know where to attach them again when you 
replace the fan tray (
