 Switching Module Installation 3-3
Installing Modules
The Catalyst 5002 switch chassis has two slots, which can be populated as follows:
Slot 1—Catalyst 5002 switch with 155W power supply supports Supervisor Engines I,
II, II G, and III G (required). Catalyst 5002 switch with 175W power supply with power
factor correction (PFC) supports Supervisor Engines I, II, II G, III, III FSX, III FLX,
and III G
Slot 2—A Network Analysis Module or any switching module (except for WS-X5014
and WS-X5410)
Note
The Catalyst 5002 switch does not support the Route Switch Module (RSM) or the
fabric integration modules.
The Catalyst 5000 switch chassis has five slots, which can be populated as follows:
Slot 1—Supports Supervisor Engines I, II, II G, III, III FSX, III FLX, and III G
Slots 2 through 5—Any switching module, Network Analysis Module, or RSM
Note
The Catalyst 5000 switch does not support the fabric integration modules.
The Catalyst 5505 switch chassis has five slots, which can be populated as follows:
Slot 1—Supports Supervisor Engines I, II, II G, III, III FSX, III FLX, and III G
Slot 2—Supports redundant supervisor engines (two Supervisor Engine IIs, II Gs, IIIs,
III FSXs,  III FLXs, or III Gs); redundancy is supported only with like supervisor
engines
Note
Supports Supervisor Engines II and II G but Supervisor Engine III, III FSX, III FLX, or
III G is recommended for utilizing all three buses effectively.
Slot 2—Any switching module may be installed in place of a redundant supervisor
engine
Slots 3 through 5—Any switching module, Network Analysis Module, or RSM
