Catalyst 5000 Family Module Installation Guide

The Catalyst 5505 switch does not support the fabric integration modules.

The Catalyst 5509 switch chassis has nine slots, which can be populated as follows:

•

Slot 1—Supports Supervisor Engines I, II, II G, III, III FSX, III FLX, and III G

•

Slot 2—Supports redundant supervisor engines (two Supervisor Engine IIs, II Gs, IIIs,
III FSXs, III FLXs, or III Gs); redundancy is supported only with like supervisor
engines (optional)

Supports Supervisor Engines II and II G but Supervisor Engine III, III FSX, III FLX, or

III G is recommended for utilizing all three buses effectively.

•

Slot 2—Any switching module may be installed in place of a redundant supervisor
engine

•

Slots 3 through 9—Any switching module, Network Analysis Module, or RSM
