The topics covered in this chapter include:

Creating user profiles

Establishing system security

Customizing MeetingPlace
Creating User Profiles
Profiles make it possible for you to offer different levels of service to
different users, track usage for billing, maintain better security on your
system, and provide effective ways for your users to conduct secure
meetings.
Profiles Overview
A user profile contains all information about known users in MeetingPlace.
Profiles contain the following types of information:

User ID and passwords

Address information, including phone and e-mail

Billing information

Class-of-service privileges

Type of user

Departmental support contacts

Time zone

Language

Meeting preferences
All users should have profiles in the system. Users who set up their own
meetings must have their own profiles. Users who attend meetings regularly
should also have profiles on the system.
User ID and Profile Number
MeetingPlace identifies users based on their user ID. The user ID is a unique
alphanumeric string of 3 to 17 characters. MeetingTime references users by
their user IDs in all of its screens and reports.
Users also need their user ID and a corresponding alphanumeric password to
use MeetingTime and MeetingPlace Web over the Local Area Network
(LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN). You should assign users
MeetingPlace user IDs that are the same as either their network or e-mail
user names.
