SR 2.5 and SR 3.5 Upgrade Procedures

for the Enterprise 450 and Sun Fire V880 DNCS 

The Sun Enterprise 450 and Sun Fire V880 DNCS servers are to be upgraded using 

Solaris’ Live Upgrade. Live Upgrade is a Solaris facility which allows operating 

system or application upgrades in an inactive boot environment while the active 

boot environment continues to run without interruption. Therefore, do not shut 

down the DNCS or Application Server processes until you are instructed to do so. 
The procedures in this chapter describe how to upgrade an Enterprise 450 and a  

Sun Fire V880 DNCS to SR 2.5 and SR 3.5. 
Note:  If you are upgrading an Enterprise 250 DNCS to SR 2.5 or SR 3.5, skip this 

chapter entirely. Go instead to Chapter 3, SR 2.5 and SR 3.5 Upgrade Procedures for 

the Enterprise 250 DNCS. 
Important:  You can complete the first five procedures of this chapter in about 2 

hours. Be certain that you are within a maintenance window when you stop the cron 

jobs in this chapter, and when you complete the procedures in Chapter 4, SR 2.5 and 

SR 3.5 Common Upgrade Procedures.
