SR 2.5 and SR 3.5 UniPack Pre-Upgrade Procedures

The UniPack may contain backup and log files from the previous upgrade.Cisco 

recommends that before you use the UniPack to back up the current system, you 

first remove any files associated with the previous upgrade. Follow the instructions 

in this section to remove old files from the UniPack. 

The cleanup_UniPack script removes old system files from the UniPack so that you 

can later use the UniPack to upgrade a new system to SR 2.5 and SR 3.5. Follow these 

instructions to run the cleanup_UniPack script on the DNCS. 

 

1. 

If necessary, open an xterm window on the DNCS. 

2. 

Follow these instructions to log into the xterm window as root user. 
a)  Type su  - and then press Enter. 

Important:  Be sure to type the dash (-) after typing su. 
Result:  The password prompt appears. 

b)  Type the root password and then press Enter. 

3. 

Insert the CD labeled DBDS Maintenance CD into the CD drive of the 

DNCS. 
Note:  If the File Manager window opens, you can close it. 

4. 

Type df  -n and then press Enter. 
Result:  A list of the mounted filesystems appears. 
Note:  The presence of /cdrom in the output confirms that the system 

correctly mounted the CD. 

5. 

Type /cdrom/cdrom0/s3/sai/scripts/Media/cleanup_UniPack and then press 

Enter. 
Results:   
• 

The system displays a message that indicates that the cleanup_UniPack 

script will delete all backup files and log files on the UniPack. 

• 

The system displays a confirmation message. 

6. 

Type y and then press Enter. 
Result:  The system removes the old files from the UniPack.
