The system supports both local and remote configuration approaches, and the
following subsections will tell you how to set up the configuration environments.

Setup via Console
To set up the local configuration environment:
1 Connect the serial port on PC (or terminal) to the Console port on the Router
using a standard RS-232 cable, as shown in Figure 2.

2 Run the terminal emulation program (HyperTerminal of Win9X for example) on the
PC, set the terminal communications parameters baud rate to 9600bps, data bit to
8, stop bit to 1, no checksum, and no flow control, and select VT100 as the
terminal type, as shown in Figure 3, Figure 4, and Figure 5.
