Chapter 11  Troubleshooting
When Only a Few Users are Unable to Join
If some of the users are able to join the web conference but others
are not, make sure those that are unable to join have the
following:
Network connectivity (i.e., are they connected through a
switch or a hub?)
Internet access
If a user has network connectivity and Internet access, perform
the following checks:
Make sure the user can view the Join Web Conference button
from the Web. For information on joining web conferences,
refer to “Using MeetingPlace Web” on page 117.
Determine whether the user is attending the web conference
over a network or dial-up connection. If the user is attending
on a dial-up connection, the web conference server may be
disconnecting them because their connection is too slow.
If an external user is unable to join a web conference, the web
server hostname may not have been properly configured in
the Administration page. Ensure that you have followed the
post-installation steps on page 72.
If an external user is accessing MeetingPlace Web through a
proxy server, the proxy server may be configured in a way
which would not allow access to the web conference. Refer
to Table 4-1 for proxy server requirements.
You may need to configure the MeetingPlace Web Server to
use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) so that external users can
attempt to join a web conference using an https:// connection.
Even if an external user is behind a proxy server, they will be
able to join a web conference. Refer to page 192 for SSL
configuration details.
