The View Ping Results menu indicates whether a ping test is in progress. If a ping test is in
progress, then the user can select a menu item to refresh the ping results. The results are not
dynamically updated in most cases.
To enable or disable the LAN

Turn off the digital sender.

Turn on the digital sender

When the digital sender begins its memory count, press and hold the #6 key on the control panel.

When all three status LEDs are illuminated, release the #6 key.

Press the #3 key to scroll to the ENABLE/DISABLE EMBEDDED LAN selection.

Press the #6 key once to initiate the enable or disable routine. The digital sender will continue its
boot-up sequence.
Hard-failure troubleshooting for the embedded LAN
If a 49, 79, or 8X error or equivalent occurs, determine if the environment outside of the digital
sender is causing the problem or if the problem is in the digital sender.
NOTE
Make a note of the digital-sender network configuration before starting this process.

Turn off the digital sender.

Remove the network cable.

Turn on the digital sender and disable the embedded LAN. (If the test fails, a hardware problem
exists. If the test succeeds, go to step 4.)

Turn off the digital sender.

Turn on the digital sender and enable the embedded LAN. (If the test fails, go to step 6. If the
test succeeds, go to step 8.)

Turn off the digital sender.

Turn on the digital sender and perform a cold reset. (If the test fails, a hardware problem exists. If
the test succeeds, go to step 8.)

Select the Embedded Jetdirect Menu in the I/O submenu.

Select the Diagnostics menu, and select the Loopback Test.

In the Loopback Test menu, select Execute. This begins a continuous diagnostic that is only
stopped by using a power cycle. A failure is reported with an error message on the control panel.
(If the test fails, a hardware problem exists. If the test succeeds, go to step 11.)

Turn off the digital sender.

Install the network cable.

Turn on the digital sender.

Restore the network configuration (if necessary).
