3  Click New. The New SCS Device window opens. 

 

4  Click in the Name field and type the name of this SCS. You can use up to 20 

alphanumeric characters without spaces between the characters. 
Important: We recommend that you establish a naming scheme that allows you 
to easily identify the SCS and where it resides. 
Example: A name of SCS12 could represent an SCS whose IP address ends in 12. 

5  Click in the IP Address field and type the IP address for the interface on the SCS 

which will talk to the PCG on a private network. Be careful to properly place the 
dots (.) between the numbers. 

6  Click the MAC Address field and type the MAC address for this interface on the 

SCS. Be careful to properly place the colon (:) between the numbers. 

7  Click the ID field and type a unique ID for this SCS. 
8  Click the Primary PCG and select the primary PCG with which this SCS would 

communicate and get the ECMs. 

9  Click the Headend arrow and select the headend in which the PCG resides. 
10  Click the Max Sessions field and type the maximum sessions allowed on the SCS 

device. This value is any integer value between 1 and 999. 

11  Click Save. The system saves this information into the DNCS database. Your 

next step is to set up the connections between the SCS and its associated MPEG 
source. Go to Setting Up SCS Ports Modeling Parameters (on page 58). 

 

After you have created and saved an SCS, you can modify any of its parameters, 
except for the ID. Complete these steps to modify the SCS.
