9.1 Availability of the fax feature

The fax feature may not be available for your unit.
9.2 Basic procedure for sending a

If the MlN (L) light is OFF, turn it ON by pressing
MlN (L).

If necessary, change the resolution and contrast
according to the type of document.

Dial the fax number.

When using the scanner glass, press MxN (U).
R The unit will scan 1 page. Wait until
“SCAN:PRESS OK” “SEND:PRESS START” is
displayed. Place the next document on the
scanner glass and press MOKN (F). Repeat this
until all the documents are scanned, then press
MxN (U).
When using the automatic document feeder (y),
press MxN (U).
Note:
R By using the scanner glass, you can send pages from
booklets and small size pages.
To stop sending, see page 104.
R You can change the default operation mode (feature
#463 on page 78) and the timer before returning to
the default operation mode (feature #464 on
page 78).
9.2.1 Various settings for sending faxes
To select the contrast
Adjust this setting depending on the darkness or
lightness of the document. 5 levels (low to high) are
available.
1. Press MdN repeatedly to display “CONTRAST”.
2. Press MCN or MDN to change the contrast.

items
Store the desired names and telephone numbers into the
address book beforehand (page 58).

Using station 4-6:
Press MgN, then press the desired station key.

You can reserve a fax transmission even when the unit
is receiving a fax or sending a fax from memory.

– Up to 3 reservations when sending
– Up to 4 reservations when receiving
